Jarun Zagreb, often referred as Zagreb’s sea was built for the 1987 University Games and is located north of the river Sava.
It consists of two lakes – Veliko and Malo Jezero – eng. Big and Little Lake -, and six islands – Univerzijada, Trešnjevka, Hrvatske Mladeži, Divljine, Veslača, and Ljubavi. Zagreb Jarun and the islands are popular destination for people of Zagreb, as they offer a variety of interesting ways to spend your time. During the warmer months of the year, people of Zagreb flock to Jarun in order to swim, row, sail, wakeboard on the lakes, or to enjoy some of the activities that can be undertaken around the lake, such as running, riding bikes, rollerblading etc.

Jarun Zagreb also houses professional athletes, most notably rowers, as its rowing course is considered to be one of the best in the world. Other athletes that use Jarun are sailors and kayak riders. Jarun has five beaches that all carry a Blue flag, denoting that the beach and the water are clean and clear for swimming and sunbathing.
